Study Abroad Opportunity for Duke Students
Duke has a student exchange relationship with the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden that is of particular interest to students interested in sustainable technology development. The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) is an international leader in energy technology and a top ranked engineering school.
The internship is a 10-week program during June/July involving research at KTH and opportunities to explore Sweden. Selected students will receive funding to pay for most of their travel and living expenses.
Students may study various aspects of climate neutral and socially accepted energy production and be involved in the design of a 5 kW polygeneration plant, as well as theoretical modelling of the plant. Other students may do research on zero emissions and focus on the polygeneration and economic and political issues. Aeronautical students will help design and build a gas turbine as part of the demonstration plant. Other energy projects and topics of research are also possible. Students are encourage to submit their own research ideas that connect with current KTH projects.
